ZynAddSubFX is an open source software synthesizer for Linux and Windows. For sound generation it has three hybrid synth engines that combine additive, subtractive, Fourier and other synthesis methods. No external samples are used to produce the sound; everything is done by synthesis. The synthesizer has effects like: Reverberation, Echo, Chorus, Distortion, Equalizer and others and supports microtonal tunings. The author of ZynAddSubFX is a Romanian programmer, Paul Nasca.

zyn is the best music synthetizer i've used. The best this is that it i open source! no trial or registration problem!

2. Does not eat up system resources at all!!
3. less than 3 MB in size
4. Sound quality outstanding!
5. possiblity to record unlimited!
6. you can play more than one instruments at a time! 10 channels available ( see screenshot)
7. Reverb, echo, hall effect, pan , damping and many more options available!
8. there's even a DRUM!!!! too good!
