Oops! Watch out! Here are all those highly interesting, absolutely necessary, and potentially embarrassing words for the
intimate parts and functions of the human body. Dangerous English 2000! has the honor of being the "book that disappears most
frequently" from an ESL teacher's reference library. Here, your students will find the medical terms they need when they go
to the gynecologist, the urologist, and the pharmacy.
Dangerous English 2000! also contains many terms they'll hear in the street, locker room and R-rated movies. Euphemisms,
slang, children's words, colorful and off-color idioms for sex and bathroom terms are explained through pictures, easy
English, and sample sentences. Each term is labeled with its level of usage, so students can distinguish vulgar terms from
the sociably acceptable words that they may use in "polite company." Readers will be warned about pronunciation
embarrassments, sexual harassment, non-verbal no-no's, racial slurs, politically incorrect terms, and common words with
double meanings.
They'll learn the historical events and cultural influences that cause language to become taboo. Intermediate levels and up.
NOTE: Dangerous English 2000! is explicit. The coast is not yet clear for frank discussions of these interesting terms in
public schools by students under 18. However, it is safe to use this text with consenting adults. Separate students along
gender lines to avoid complications and embarrassment. Teacher's suggestions and precautions are included.
